Beat The Heat!

Florida is one of the "hottest" states to live in for its great sunny weather, but it also does get really hot, especially in the summer! With average temperatures reaching up into the 90s throughout the months of June, July, and August, incidents of heat stress and heat exhaustion also tend to be on the rise. One of the easiest and most effective ways to beat the heat this summer is by staying in the shade. When standing in direct sunlight, the solar radiation makes it feel 10-15 degrees hotter than it really is, often times making conditions unbearable. And if it seems like every summer feels even hotter than the previous one, well, it probably is! Due to greenhouse gases the temperature has been increasing at a rate on average of .5 degrees per decade

In addition to feeling hot, the rays that the sun gives off can have damaging effects on your skin. UVA rays are mainly responsible for aging because they penetrate much deeper into the surface of the skin, damaging the cells beneath. UVB rays are also harmful because they can cause cancer, particularly melanoma skin cancer. The reason it is suggested to stay out of the sun during midday hours is because not only is it hottest during that time, but also because UVB rays are most prevalent.

Our Axis 80 Sun Square at Columbus Networks office building not only looks stylish, but will help you stay nice and cool while relaxing or eating your lunch. Furthermore, the special shade fabric blocks up to 86% of solar radiation, keeping you sun safe! Make sure that you seek the shade when venturing out of the office this summer!
